What is the Bearton Twins?

The Bearton Twins method is designed for primary school children, with the goal of motivating them to speak English and develop effective communication skills, regardless of their prior language learning experience. It is closely aligned with the core curriculum, enabling students to perform well with the material they are taught in public schools.

How do we teach?

The Bearton Twins method goes beyond traditional textbooks. It includes hundreds of attractively designed cards showing pictures, sentences, and comic strips, which are used to encourage learning through play. Teachers are equipped with tools to consolidate the material in a fun and engaging way, leading to consistent progress and increased linguistic confidence among children.
By structuring the course in this way, both children and parents can track the achievement of measurable language progress and the development of the student’s communicative and lexical competence.

Extensive materials

Both teachers and students have access to a wide range of teaching resources which ensure that learning is not only effective but also enjoyable. The materials selected are designed to make learning pleasant both in the classroom and at home.

Effective memorisation

The course is built on previously learned content, incorporating systematic repetition and recycling of language material in new contexts. This approach helps children retain more information, transferring it into their long-term memory and enabling them to use it effectively in communication.

Well-thought-out assessment

With a credit system focused on celebrating success, children are motivated to take on new challenges. They also learn that progress comes in small, manageable steps, which helps them to stay motivated and track their growth.

Measurable successes

The progress of learners is visible not only in their growing self-confidence and competence but also in their academic success. By aligning the method with the school curriculum, children perform better in school and are happier to actively participate in lessons.

Why the Bearton Twins?

The Bearton Twins method is perfect for any child in primary school, offering a comprehensive way to develop a love of English while achieving better school results.

Children will work with materials based on the latest teaching trends while still benefitting from tried and tested methods. This approach fosters the balanced development of all the language skills: speaking, writing, reading, and listening.

From the selection of vocabulary to the audio recordings, all the language used in the Bearton Twins method is completely natural, ensuring that learners will be able to communicate confidently in real-life situations.

How did the Bearton Twins method come about?

Having developed three other successful methods for children starting their adventure with English in kindergarten, the authors believe that every child has the potential to learn a foreign language well enough to communicate in everyday situations. To offer quality education to those who didn’t have the opportunity to learn in kindergarten or now have heavy school workloads, they have created a method that allows children to become active language users at their own pace, based on their own abilities.
